About
Joti Van Carlos Gore is a multifarious performer, creative, model, author, recording and voice-over artist who loves to originate characters. Recently nominated for People’s Choice Performer of the Year, Joti appeared in Blacknificense, The Cotton Club Experience, which he wrote, directed, choreographed and produced. The production was arranged and musically directed by Adrian Szondy, with vocal direction by Victoria Theodore and assistant choreography by Jess Mohi. Joti played Kerchak in James Terry Collective’s Green Room Award-winning Tarzan the Musical. His Australian and international original roles include King Agnarr in the National and International Tours of Disney’s Frozen the Musical (Disney Aus/NZ); Booker T. Washington in Ragtime the Musical (The Production Company); Roy Brown & Others in Elvis, A Musical Revolution; Memphis in TheatreWorks USA; Jonnie in My Gypsy; and York in the original cast of Sacagawea (Willows Theatre). Joti’s screen and music appearances include Jay ETU Agent in Hunters (HBO/NBCUniversal), Woodley in Woodley (ABC Australia), and the original voice of Papa Teddy and Sprinklers in the children’s animation Big Words, Small Stories (ABC worldwide). His screen credits also include Milk, Big Brass Ring, and Rent The Musical Movie. As a recording and live music artist, Joti recorded “We’ll Be Back” with Tony and Grammy Award-winning Broadway Inspirational Voices. He performed A Night of Motown at the Marin Film Festival/Sweet Water alongside the legendary Funk Brothers, Jeanie Tracy, Narada Michael Walden and Joel Jaffe. He also performed on the I Get So Caught Up tour, with musical direction by Victoria Theodore, including appearances at the International Music & Film Festival in Las Vegas, Sydney Opera House and Carnegie. Joti made a cameo appearance in and wrote “All We Need Is Love” for His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama’s award-winning documentary film Road to Peace. Among Joti’s favourite stage roles are Bernardo in the 50th Anniversary production of West Side Story, accompanied by the Tri-State Symphony & Ballet; Aaron in Titus Andronicus; Judah in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (Goldenrod Showboat); Sophisticated Ladies (Woodminster Amphitheatre); No Moe in Five Guys Named Moe (California Conservatory Theatre); Rusty Charlie in Guys & Dolls; Yonkers in Gypsy (TheatreWorks USA); Junie & Miss Roj in The Colored Museum (San Jose Stage Company); A Chorus Line (Seaside Music Theatre); and General in Eubie! (St. Louis Rep). Joti had the honour of co-hosting and performing at the 42nd Green Room Awards. He will receive the Gold Honour Badge for his work with the Media, Entertainment & Arts Alliance (MEAA), and represented Australia at the International Federation of Actors World Congress ’25 in Birmingham, UK. Joti is the Wakakirri Ambassador ’26, a member of the Rob Guest Endowment Committee, and Secretary of the Board of Ausdance. He is deeply passionate about humanitarian work and community volunteering. Currently, Joti is performing An Evening with Joti Van Carlos Gore, accompanied by jazz pianist James O’Brien and curated by Mama Alto. He is also appearing as The Monster in Mel Gibson’s Young Frankenstein The Musical at Theatre Works in St Kilda, while developing his new work The Suga Shack through an Artist-in-Residence program at The Space Dance & Arts Centre.
